Introduction
We started Telugu classes with the intention of teaching Telugu to kids in New Jersey, USA. From one class in 2006, we grew to three classes in 2007 and 2008, and five classes in 2009.
Telugu classes are free and open for all children of school age.
If you are interested in attending Telugu classes, please register by clicking on the "Create an Account" link. Registration is to obtain your email address, which will be used to communicate class schedule, cancellations, and other class related information.
Scope and Goals
The main focus of our classes is to teach Telugu language and use that skill to teach common Telugu words, phrases, and other cultural things. We recognize that the first language for many of our students is English and hence, use English as the medium of instruction.
In short, these are not cultural classes. These classes are intended to teach a lifelong skill of reading and writing Telugu. By the end of the first year, the students would be reading small sentences and small stories. We use this as a foundation for the advanced classes.
Learning Telugu in a formal (బడి) setting would help the children know the actual alphabets, get the correct pronunciation, and give them the confidence to speak
From 2010, we started a tiered class structure. Please click on the following links for more information.
